Officer Reports:

  • PRESIDENT – Jamie Hickey caught a few of our Alumni with alcohol outside Bruske during Homecoming. She warned us not to have any alcohol at functions, Alumni or otherwise.
  • SECRETARY – The final cost of the Faculty dinner is $113.14. That makes it $7.55 per member. I need to pay by next Tuesday, so give your meal numbers to me and cash to Kent.
  • FEO – Brothers, tonight begins gold night and the color gold represents truth. Gold night is this Saturday, Nov 1 at 8:00. Our probationary members are more than halfway through their journey. It is time that we share with them the ideals of our fraternity and we all bring down our walls and share more about ourselves. Also, fathers need to order sweatshirts this week if you have not already done so.
  • WARDEN – The general business meeting set for Sunday Nov. 2, 1997 is taken care of. Reminder to meet in SAC 203, in formal attire. Nice shirt AND pants, NO BLUE JEANS OR TEE SHIRTS! Also, please remember, SAC Rules: No food or drink in SAC. This is especially true since we will be in the room with the piano. President is responsible for the black book, song leader for a red book, I will take care of letters and gavel. Now for a little refresher on Robert’s Rules as pertaining to Sinfonia:
    1. A motion only needs to be made for those actions suggested during a GBM in which one or members objects. If there is no objection clearly stated, as entertained by the president, no motion needs to be made and no vote need follow. The action will be considered accepted and so noted in the minutes.
    2. Always wait until recognized by the president to speak.
    3. Exceptions to the above rule are:
    4. Point of information
      • Does not appear to formally exist in Robert’s rules. In the Sinfonian context, it is used to interject a fact previously unknown that pertains to the current topic of discussion.
    5. Point of Order -
      • A point of order is an assertion that a rule is being violated. In short, it is a request to enforce the rule being violated. A point of order may interrupt the current speaker if it is absolutely necessary.
    6. A complex motion may be divided into several simpler motions, each covering one or more portions of the original motion. A new motion must be recognized and seconded in order to simplify a motion already on the floor.
    7. Please ask the warden or acting chair for clarifications to other rules.
    8. I found no reference to any motion pertaining to 48 hour notice for events. I will research it further.
  • ROOM MAMAGER – Mike and Cj are on duty this week. A new schedule will be up soon. Everyone has a folder in the drawer now. Metal shelves have to be moved sooner than now. The yellow couch also needs to be moved. Please pick up after yourself. Fines are going to be given! The room will be moved around this week.
  • SOCIAL CHAIR – Brothers Scott, Kevin, Joey, Andy, Dan and myself are all on the social committee. A movie night and football game will be planned shortly. Thanks to Joey and Cindy for decorating the board outside the room. Signs are up for the Christmas concert and auditions. There will also be a promotional chalking up on the wall soon.
  • GREEN ROOM – We need $110 to give to Mrs. Martin for the equipment.

Old Business:

  • Pat will talk to Doug Scripps about giving NASM his $25 registration fee.

New Business:

  • If you are sending out an e-mail regarding a change in meeting time. Please put "CHANGE IN MEETING TIME" somewhere in the subject heading.
